![]() ![]() Key plot moments, from Eren's first Titan transformation to the female Titan arc and more, are adapted into epic, interactive sequences. ![]() What stands out most is how faithfully the game adapts Attack on Titan's story. It would have been surprisingly easy to make the game feel clunky, but the developers managed to perfectly capture the anime's feeling of freedom when using the ODM gear. The success of Attack on Titan can be easily explained by how fluid its gameplay feels. Fortunately, controlling your favorite characters, like zipping through buildings as Mikasa, keeps things reasonably fresh. Still, missions can feel repetitive, especially side content. The way blades quickly deteriorate with use, forcing you to restock supplies mid-battle, adds nice tension. As you progress, you can equip new weapons, improve character stats, and customize gear components to alter battle strategy. While battles largely involve using the ODM gear to target Titan's weak points, upgrade systems help spice things up. Environments could have a bit more complexity and detail, especially now that we've seen games like Dragon Ball Fighterz but the stylized visuals still capture the feeling of humanity clinging to civilization inside the walls. Seeing the Colossal Titan peering over the Wall in stunning 3D cel-shading is truly spectacular. Character models, gear, and Titans all mirror their anime counterparts with impressive accuracy. The game's cel-shaded visual style looks nearly identical to the anime, helping immerse you in the Attack on Titan world. Boss battles against unique Titans like the Female and Armored Titan provide an extra challenge. It takes some practice to get the controls down, but once you do, maneuvering feels intuitive. The basics of the game are simple – navigate environments using the ODM gear, taking down Titans by targeting different body parts before moving in for the kill by slicing the nape of their necks. Though simpler than some other anime game adaptations, Attack on Titan captures the exhilarating feeling of the anime surprisingly well. Players take control of beloved characters like Eren, Mikasa, and Levi as they battle against waves of towering Titans using their Omni-Directional Mobility gear to zip around and slice Titans' necks. Wings of Freedom is a solid video game adaptation that allows fans of the anime to experience key moments in an interactive way. ![]()
